Re: Right Back
Byram all he needs is the confidence of the manager , we looked a far more balanced team when he came on today .

Re: Right Back
7 different right backs been played this season.

byram is the main one who should've played. arbeloa for back up.

byram is not a bilic signing. henry identified him.

bilic being stubborn. and fucking stupid.

7 ?

What a fucking unprofessional joke we are. I just don't understand why this problem has been ignored for YEARS.

I'd really like to know what the club has to say about the near eternal right back debacle.

Can add Havard Nordtveit to that list aswell

Re: Right Back
just heard bilic interview. he's tried to lay blame at 'the right side of our defence' i.e. byram for the last goal. that will justify his continued use of kouyate at right back.

it was ayew who lost the ball in a ridiculously dangerous position. byram had just set up our equaliser by doing exactly what he did in that last move. to blame him is scapegoating at is most blatant. where was the cover from the defensive midfielder - oh wait, we never both to play one. why didn't fonte cover the run - on wait, because he's proper slow and can't

bilic is coasting.

Re: Right Back
Lucas neill
Guy demel

In the last decade they are the only two actual right backs we've had

The kistbifnsquate pegs in round holes (from repka to faubert to obrien to Antonio) is absurd. If the near miracle of 02/03 and so nearly avoiding relegation showed anything its that good full backs make a ducking huge difference - with brevet and Johnson in there we looked a different team. Quite why we just haven't bothered addressing this issue for so long is an utter mystery

Re: Right Back
The lack of a decent right back is something you can lay firmly at the feet of that clown we have as manager

Spot on. The great escape season with Curbs was the same thing. Neill and McCartney made a big difference when they came in to the team. When we went down in 2011 our full backs were shit.

Never understood why it's a position that's often given such a low priority.

Re: Right Back
Any legs to this story in the press about Bacary Sagna coming to us?! With him and Fonte that's not exactly planning for the future!!

Re: Right Back
Bilic is obsessed with playing a right back who can give us everything...but defend.

Speed, attacking instincts, height for set pieces.

First and foremost he needs to be able to fucking defend !

chedylan 2 10:30 Sun Mar 12
Re: Right Back
're sagna

Seeing as Dwarfy Dave done a 180 and said the transfer policy is for British or English experienced players. I expect this to happen .

Fitting that criteria is expensive so expect a few aging players on frees in the summer.

Sniper 10:37 Sun Mar 12
Re: Right Back
I'm not against sagna but seeing as we've needed a right back for about 5 years, you'd think the scouts might have found someone somewhere

master 11:04 Sun Mar 12
Re: Right Back
It's a Bilic choice based on when we played man city. He was outstanding in Bilic eyes. But as we all know, probably only coz we were so so poor.

If sagna disappeared to a Turkish side this summer, none of us would be surprised or bothered. We'd say that was his level, winding down his career and taking a final pay. I believe ex arse Lauren did the same.

The fact he's being linked to us tell me all I need to know about Bilic ability to judge a player. He's getting us Turkish league level in the main, with one or two exceptions. More misses than hits = a squad full of crap.

Re: Right Back
Crazy, I would far sooner he gave Byram a decent run rather than continually use players in the wrong position. What idiot gifted Tomkins to Palace, far better than what we have and he can play either RB or CB.

Sven Roeder 11:17 Sun Mar 12
Re: Right Back
Full backs in today's game are crucial.
To play without a right back and shoehorn Kouyate in there is criminal. Watched him closely as he was often in front of me in the Chelsea second half and he can't do the attacking part of the job let alone the defensive side. I don't blame him ... he is a midfielder or central defender.
After Chelsea Antonio, Byram, Ayew & Fernandes should have come in. Yet we picked the same team. Again.

Spandex Sidney 11:23 Sun Mar 12
Re: Right Back
If we could get Sagna and Zabaleta, whatever you think of their age, they would massively improve our quality at the back.

Then perhaps, with a manager that supports him, Byram can start to come good and learn from such great full backs. He set Ayew's goal up lovely yesterday, if he became a better and more intelligent footballer and defended better we could have a real prospect for the future on our hands.

As for Bilic blaming him, tells you more about Bilic than it does Byram. Fucking know-nothing Zombie apocalypse cunt.

richardbridge8 12:28 Wed Mar 15
Re: Right Back
Would far rather have Zabaleta than Sagna. He's two years younger, is a real leader, and weighs in with a few goals as well. Ask any Citeh fan and Zabaleta is an icon whilst Sagna a mercenary.

the exile 1:06 Wed Mar 15
Re: Right Back
Zabaleta still has a lot to give and would be a terrific signing. As for the rest of this season, give it to Byram ffs and stop pillocking about with Kouyate. Byram is not the finished article but is undoubtedly a fantastic prospect but to become the finished article he needs games.
